TEN THINGS

05/20/2016

Apologies for the radio-silence this week. It’s been a tough one. I am currently in Arizona visiting my family for a few days. My Grandpa had a stroke on Sunday and is in the hospital. So many thoughts and emotions that go hand-in-hand with the possible loss of someone you love—I feel like I have been weeding through them all. I am happy to say that he is making progress. His strength inspires me so deeply.

Here are this week’s ten things…

1. So in love with those earrings above by Salihah Moore.

2. If ever passing through Phoenix, you must visit this magical place.

3. A beautiful cause helping to empower moms to raise healthy babies in Uganda.

4. The best 71 second animation you’ll watch today.

5. A new band my friend recommended to me and I just can’t quit it.

6. The best street style from Sydney Fashion Week.

7. There’s now a cool book-of-the-month-club for adults. I’m in! I did a little Q&A with them, if you care to take a peek.

8. A dress to live in this summer.

9. A whole week of good food. Ok, now I’m hungry!

10. I decided to pick this up again after such a rough and emotional week.

That Didion book….it’s beautiful, especially for a time in your life such as this. So sorry to hear about your grandpa’s stroke.

Cool to see Salihah Moore on your site! I knew her from my neck of the woods quite some time ago and always thought her creations were beautiful. I especially love her illustrations too!

Love A Year of Magical Thinking – it’s one of my favorite books of all time. Just so brutally honest and so thoughtful, not to mention intelligent. I’m glad your grandfather is on the up and up. All the best this week!

Year of Magical Thinking remains one of the most profound books I’ve ever read. I’m so sorry you’re going through a tough time.

My deepest condolences go out to you and yours. I can relate to having just ” One of THOSE weeks”. The ones that are so hard to pull yourself through and yet, your to humble to really cry about it. You eat, pray, and love your way until the sun shines again. Thank you for the tip on the Year of Magical Thinking. Im in the middle of a very intense love series but as soon as Im done, I plan to drown myself inside of the page of that book! Well wishes and hopefully nothing but easy days and soothings nights to come your way. Be well <3

Thank you for turning me on to Twin Limb. Gorgeous voice. Very sorry to hear of your Grandfather. Losing mine was one of the hardest deaths I have ever experienced. I still think of him on the daily. Little reminders often come to call. A cardinal out my window, [his] hammer I insisted on inheriting from his tool chest, [his] pink suspenders I use ever time I paint, [his] thermos I put my coffee in every morning from the Chemex (keeps it hot till eve), the wonderful sight and smell of peonies…my Grandfather is with me and will be my days through. Best man I have ever known. His hands could build anything and made my know mine could do the same. His sense of humor made friends with the most fierce of strangers, creating shine wherever he went. We are their beloved Granddaughters, we helped shape their sense of manhood, while they fed us their wisdom of life & wonder. Damn lucky we are to be touch by such men. Prayers of peace & Love I send to ya, Darling.
