The first day of Summer Solstice is just two-and-a-half weeks away, but this warm weather and the bright greenery surrounding us each day has me itching for adventure. Trips to the lake and river, camping with friends, barbecues, all day swimming pool sessions, they are all in our near future. Tomorrow morning we head out-of-town for our first trip of the season. Five days on the road with the family. I am excited.

Here are a few more things i am looking forward to this summer…

Eating / Fresh salads, gyros, and corn on the cob.
Drinking / Home-squeezed juice and sangria.
Practicing / Patience, kindness, selflessness, and humility, always.
Mastering / The art of time maintenance.
Learning / How to keep my plants alive.
Trying / To face my fear and ride on the back of my husband’s motorcycle from time to time.
Playing / More! We played nighttime hide-and-seek a week ago, for a good three hours, with the kids and the neighbor kids. It was truly a blast!
Finishing / So many things. I’m feeling anxious just typing that.
Reading / The Goldfinch. I bought the book ages ago and haven’t given myself time to sit down and read much at all.
Remembering / To take my vitamins and to get more sleep when I can.
Wearing / Cut-off shorts, t-shirts, and sandals.
Cooking / Big hearty meals for friends and family and eating outside on the deck.
Working / A little bit less.
Traveling / A little bit more.
Wanting / To exercise. After that three-hour bout running and playing hide-and-seek, I realized just how out of shape I am.

Goals are good. What are yours for summertime?

My one big goal for this summer is to take my weekends for adventures and traveling. I already have a couple weekend trips planned, but until then I want to take my one day off a week to go explore things nearby.

I’m looking forward to summer as well. I love how long the sun stays out and busting out my favorite pair of cutoffs. My goal is to learn to relax and read more.

I just picked up the Goldfinch too! Are you loving it as much as I am?

I suddenly added 10 pounds when the nursing slowed down. I would like to drop that.

I want to grow my blog more.

I want to complete the repairs from our flood and fix our little back yard space up with ground covering and twinkle lights.

This Summer I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends coming to visit. Arts and crafts with the kids. Day trips to the beach and exploring the beautiful countryside we have on our doorstep. Would love to start reading again too as since having kids I’ve found it hard to find the time.

Ah these pictures perfectly evoke SUMMER. I’m heading to CA where my family lives and I’m ecstatic! It’s my first summer living in Portland, OR and it’s so hard to be away from them but my boyfriend and I will get to have the whole month of June with our families–total bliss!!

    Much love,

working a little bit less, travelling a little bit more… sound perfect. we’re heading into winter over here, but i’m looking forward to pumpkin soup and fresh, crisp mornings!

Love these pictures. I’m so ready for summer – here in Scotland it’s pouring with rain – I really need some vitamin D in my bones!

Conquering the list of things to do on this old 1884 house we just bought! and also, sangria.

That one really spoke to me. This summer I want to be more patient! I’d love to lose a bit of weight, but I’m also going to Italy where I plan on eating lots of pizza, pasta and gelato so I think the weight thing might have to be reserved for Autumn… but nonetheless, I’ll keep it in there as a goal!

  • Kayla Kuyper

Oh sweet summertime, you are so dreamy! Catching fireflies underneath the moon, the smell of the hot & toasty campfire…do i need to say anymore?

  • lydia larae

what a sweet list. “keeping my plants alive.” That one would be a good one for me to adopt. I garden every year, but my poor little green friends suffer in the months of may and june because i can’t be outside longer than a couple of minutes because of my allergies, lol. my goals for this summer are along the lines of creating more peace and fostering wellness for myself and my little ones. things like being more active, singing with the kids more, and i have lots of book and craft projects that i want to accomplish too, but i can’t let that interfere with my main goal of relaxing and cultivating a peaceful and less chaotic life…

READ THE GOLDFINCH! I’m 500 pages in and cannot put it down! Absolutely wonderful!
