“a portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.”

julian: this is his treasured hobbit sword that he received for christmas. by far the winning prize under the tree this year.
milla plum: my beautiful girl. so full of life. growing up so fast these days that i just want to push pause for a moment.
birdie: she rolls her eyes at me if she is not in the mood for pictures, haha.
sailor: i spy a tiny boy who has a thing for crawling under the table lately. i think he is copying frances the pug.

i did it. i completed my 52 weeks of photos. you can view the project in it’s entirety here. thank you all for joining me here each week. i am excited to continue the project again next year… next week. i am trying to think of a fun spin to put on it, but so far am coming up short with ideas. your suggestions are very much welcome.

have a happy new year my friends! please be safe. xx

footnote… we are finalists for the 2014 parents magazine social media awards, best instagram. if you would like to support us you can visit the voting page and cast your votes. thank you, we appreciate it.

It might be cool to do a portrait of them doing something they’ve never done before each week… but that might be a tall order given 4 kids and 52 weeks, but also a great lesson in taking a leap for the kids!

  • Juliette Laura

    Birdie’s face is priceless!!!
And wow, 52 weeks flew by! I really don’t have any suggestions, but I do look forward to you continuing the project!

Like the Stokke chair – I’ve been considering one for my little babe. Oh, the eye roll – did she learn that from her big sister? :)

I’m thoroughly enjoyed following all 52 weeks of photos! I had happened upon your blog and added you to my reader shortly before you started this project, so I’ve followed along from the beginning. Looking forward to another year and possibly a new spin.. though I can’t think of any suggestions.

Such wonderful photos! I guess they are never too young for an eye roll :) Maybe instead of 4 single photos you could do 2 double photos. it would be fun to mix up the pairs each week and to see the kids interact with each other.

52 week of amazing and beautiful pics from your cutie kids! I love this project and I am so happy that you start this project in the new year again! I would do that so much too, but my kids hate it, if I make a pic of them, especially the oldest boy!
I hope you win the instagram award! I wish you much luck!
I wish you and your beautiful family a happy new year with much luck and health!

  • jane

I just loved your 52 week photos, thank you for sharing your children with us. You’ve inspired me to do something similar. Each week in 2014 my children (ages 10 and 7) will take a photo of something that inspires them with Mommy’s big camera. Then write a few sentences on how the image makes them feel. Happy New Year to you and your family!

  • Anwen

Do Milla or Julian like to take pictures? It could become their project! Or, keep taking pics of all the kids, and have one of them take a photo of you an Aubrey each week too. It might be fun to see all 6 of you change throughout the year!

  • Chelsea

I would love to see the week one pictures along side week 52!

  • Chelsea

I would love to see week 1 side by side with week 52 to see the changes

  • J

I really enjoyed following this project! What a special keepsake. Looking forward to seeing what you will put together with the photos. You could try to find some kind of theme every week for next year. Like a colour, black & white, shadows, hiding, or really obscure ones like wonder, stillness, etc. Or more specific bits of their lives, like what is their most important possession at this very moment, fave piece of clothing, first thing they do when they go outside, where they can be found at 3pm, 5 minutes after wakeup, last thing they do before bed, where each prefers to read, etc.

Some weeks, having your children (or at least your bigger kids) take the picture of each other might put a beautiful spin on it. :)
